M&S join Marshalls Yard line up

15 February 2006

Leading retailer Marks & Spencer has signed up for a 10,000 sq ft unit on Marshalls Yard, Gainsborough, to house one of its new format Simply Food stores.

Currently the focus of a major expansion programme, Simply Food stores offer up to 2,000 Marks & Spencer food lines including sandwiches, wine, ready meals and fresh produce.   Basic groceries, newspapers and magazines will also be on offer.

The Marshalls Yard store will put Gainsborough firmly on the map as a quality shopping destination – with over 400 stores nationwide, Marks & Spencer is one of the biggest footfall generators on the high street.

The latest signing gives Marshalls Yard an impressive tenant line up which will reduce trade leakage dramatically and encourage visitors from out of the area to come in to Gainsborough.

Work started last month on Dransfield Properties’ Marshalls Yard development, and with a sixty week build period, Gainsborough residents could be shopping at the store by Easter 2007.

Simply Food joins Next, New Look, Brantano, Wilkinsons, JJB Health and Fitness, Allied Carpets, Specsavers, Ilkeston Co-op Travel, Greggs, Carphone Warehouse and Stringers on the development, which has less then 20 per cent of the retail floor space still available to let.

Andrew Malley, Retail Property Director of Dransfield Properties, said:  “This letting demonstrates the increasing confidence shown by the major retailers in the town and the high quality line up of Marshalls Yard will attract customers from far and wide.”
