New Look sign up for Marshalls Yard, Gainsborough

28 November 2005

Leading fashion chain New Look is to open a 5,950 sq ft store with full mezzanine floor on the £37 million Marshall’s Yard development in Gainsborough, Lincolnshire.

New Look has over 500 stores nationwide and joins major high street names Carphone Warehouse, Greggs, Allied Carpets, Brantano, Specsavers, and JJB Health and Fitness on the development.

Marshalls Yard is being developed by Yorkshire-based companies Dransfield Properties and Prospect Estaes on an eight acre landmark site at the edge of the town centre.  It will create around 1,250 new jobs, and transform a disused factory into an attractive mixed-use scheme.

The scheme includes 93,560 sq ft of new retail space, 34,650 of leisure space, three restaurants and office accommodation.   Construction will begin in January 2006 and interest from retailers is high, with terms agreed on 70 per cent of the retail space.

Research commissioned by the market analysts CACI show that 92 pence in the pound on comparison goods is currently being spent out of Gainsborough.

Mark Dransfield, Managing Director of Dransfield Properties, said: “We are delighted that New Look will be opening a store at Marshalls Yard.  Interest from leading retailers shows confidence in Gainsborough’s potential, and the increasing popularity of the market town format.”
