Fitness chains confirms commitment to Manchester’s Lime Square

1 July 2020

The Gym Group – one of the UK’s largest fitness chains – has further committed to Dransfield Properties’ Lime Square shopping centre by extending the lease to 2034.

The Gym has been part of the Lime Square line up since autumn 2014 and underwent an upgrade in 2018.

Now the company has further committed to the busy east Manchester shopping centre by extending the lease by five years – taking the lease period from 2029 up to July 2034.

As with all gyms and fitness clubs across the UK The Gym is currently closed and awaiting updated guidance for the government on when they can start to re-open.

The 15,000 sq. ft gym is in a key position at Lime Square fronting Ashton Old Road in Openshaw and normally operates 24 hours a day and seven days a week.

The centre is owned and managed by Sheffield based Dransfield Properties Ltd.

Estates Director, James Shepherd, said: “This has obviously been a difficult year for many in the retail, leisure and fitness sector and we are extremely pleased that against this backdrop The Gym Group has confirmed its long term commitment to our Lime Square development.

“The Gym has been a very popular and well received addition to Lime Square over the last six years and we look forward to seeing it re-open once the government guidance allows.”

Lime Square is anchored by a Morrisons store, the centre is also home to a range of other stores and café’s including The Range, B&M Bargains, Costa Coffee, Wynsors, Poundland and Greggs.
