The Prime Minister Boris Johnson called in at Dransfield Properties’ Fox Valley development on Friday. The visit to the award winning shopping centre was made during his whistle-stop tour of South Yorkshire.

Mr Johnson met Mark Dransfield, Managing Director of Dransfield Propertied Ltd as well the Conservative Prospective Parliamentary Candidate for Penistone and Stocksbridge, Miriam Cates.

The Prime Minister also took time to chat to some of the market traders at the shopping centre’s busy Friday Market as well as chatting to shoppers and the local press during the unannounced visit.

Mr Johnson had been attending the Conference of the North at Magna Centre in Rotherham earlier in the day.
The event was aimed at bringing organisations and authorities across the north to work more closely together on major projects.

Mark Dransfield said: “We were delighted to welcome Mr Johnson to Fox Valley on Friday afternoon and to have the opportunity to discuss with him some of the issues facing our industry, including business rates and town centre regeneration and to show him a little of what has been achieved here at Fox Valley.

“At Dransfield Properties we are passionate about high quality town centre developments and we are always keen to share that passion. In our company’s 27-year history this is the first time we have had a sitting Prime Minister make a visit to one of our sites.”
