CCTV installed in Market Cross

25 September 2005

CCTV will be installed in Market Cross shopping centre next week (week commencing 3 October), the latest in a series of improvements scheduled for the area.

Six cameras will monitor and record activity in the centre 24 hours a day, seven days a week to ensure the security of the site and the safety of the public.

The cameras are high resolution vandal resistant dome cameras.  Recorded onto a digital recorder, crystal clear images will be monitored by a 24 hour remote monitoring station..

The system is being supplied by Abbey Alarm Systems of Selby, in line with centre owners Dransfield Properties’ policy of using local contractors wherever possible.

Mark Dransfield, Managing Director of Dransfield Properties said: “The CCTV will act as a deterrent to the minority who cause problems, which is usually out of hours.  We want visitors to Market Cross to feel safe at all times, traders to have secure premises and the cameras will help achieve this.”
