Fox Valley welcomes brand new Iceland store to north Sheffield centre
Iceland opened its doors this morning (Tuesday 30th April) to the company’s brand-new store at Fox Valley in north Sheffield.
Shoppers turned out to be the first to welcome the new store to the award-winning shopping centre and the Mayor of Stocksbridge, Cllr Julie Grocutt was on hand to help with the ribbon cutting along with the store team.
The new Iceland store has been designed to the supermarket chain’s new format and can be found in a 6,975 sq. ft. unit in between Aldi and Home Bargains at Fox Valley.
The opportunity to open at the centre followed the closure of Poundworld last year.
Iceland pride themselves on being a friendly and convenient place to do the weekly shop and operate more than 900 stores across the country. This new opening at Fox Valley has created 30 new jobs in the area.
Claire Reynolds, Tenant Liaison Executive for Fox Valley said: “We are very excited to have Iceland on board as one of our tenants, we’re confident the store will be an excellent addition to the Fox Valley line up.
‘We’ve already had a great response from our shoppers to the new store.”
In 2018 Iceland committed to becoming the first major retailer, globally, to eliminate plastic packaging from all of its own label products by the end of 2023, and to remove palm oil as an ingredient from its own label range by the end of 2018.
A spokesperson for Iceland said: “The success of our new concept stores has given us the confidence to consider opening completely new Iceland stores in areas where we were unrepresented – and we are confident that our store at the Fox Valley Shopping Centre is going to be a fantastic addition to the current mix of retailers available. “
A special facebook competition was held with Fox Valley to win a £50 shop at Iceland. Winner Lucie Fish was among the first shoppers to try out the new Iceland at Fox Valley.
