Phone accessories firm relocates to new unit at Merrywalks

30 August 2018

Family business Phonetek has relocated to a new, more prominent unit at Stroud’s Merrywalks Centre as part of the ambitious multi million pound plans to transform the town’s shopping centre.

Phonetek has a team of 2 members of staff and has been based at the town centre retail destination for the last 9 years with a wide range of phone accessories as well as a repair service.

The new owners of the Merrywalks Centre, Yorkshire based Dransfield Properties, have worked with the owners to relocate them to a better position in the gallery area just off King Street and can be found next door to Go Mobile at the centre.

The company’s previous location was by the centre’s side entrance and close to the former Store 21 area which is due to undergo a major transformation as part of the next phase in the £12 million project.

Naqash Tariq from Phonetek said: “We are delighted with our new location here at Merrywalks - it is a great location at the centre for our store and we look forward to continuing to serve our customers here in Stroud from our new unit.”

As well as being in a better location the new unit is also slightly larger - Construction Director at Dransfield Properties, Dave Hale said the move is all part of the changes currently underway at Merrywalks.

Dave added: “We have started refurbishment on the multi-storey car park improvements at Merrywalks which is progressing well. The relocation of Phonetek is also part of our plans to transform the mall area of the centre and create a much more attractive environment for shoppers and visitors.

“We’d like to wish the team at Phonetek all the very best in their new location.”

A planning application has been submitted to Stroud District a Council for the wider improvements to the centre and is expected to be determined later in the autumn. The project has been supported by a £1million loan and a £3million grant from GFirst LEP.
