Milestone in Gainsborough town centre transformation to be celebrated

21 May 2018

The first phase of work to transform a major town centre site in Gainsborough is due to be celebrated on Wednesday with a special topping out ceremony.

Dransfield Properties and West Lindsey District Council are working in partnership to transform the Market Street, Market Place, Church Street and North Street area of the town.

The development includes a new 56 room Travelodge Hotel and Ponti’s Italian Kitchen restaurant and work is due to be completed ready for a September opening.

This week marks the completion of the steelwork on the hotel building and a special topping out ceremony will be held at 11am on Wednesday May 23rd to celebrate this milestone in the town centre project.

Pupils from The Gainsborough Parish Church of England Primary School will also bury a time capsule to mark the event.

The overall development will transform this run down site and deliver the physical and economic regeneration of the town centre, as well as creating 72 new jobs.

As well as bringing a much needed hotel to the town the Ponti’s Italian Kitchen ground floor restaurant will bring a new concept in Italian dining to the area including a stunning alfresco dining area and water feature.

The wider regeneration scheme is also transforming some of the run down town centre shops creating an attractive independent quarter and bringing major improvement to the Roseways Car Park.
