Fox Valley wins major regional award for regeneration

16 May 2017

The leading South Yorkshire property development firm Dransfield Properties Ltd has won a prestigious regional award for regeneration for the £50 million Fox Valley development in north Sheffield.

The company was awarded the RICS Pro-Yorkshire Award in the regeneration category at a ceremony held in Leeds on Friday (May 12th) – the development was launched last year by Joanna Lumley OBE bringing a major investment and hundreds of new jobs to the area.

The development has transformed a 28 acre former steelworks site in Stocksbridge north Sheffield into a stunning retail, office and leisure development which has created a new commercial heart for this part of South Yorkshire.

Fox Valley was one of four projects across the region to the shortlisted in the regeneration category alongside other developments in Sheffield and in Hill. The scheme was designed by Sheffield architects Dixon Dawson and the main contractor was Henry Boot Construction.

The development team was presented with the award by TV presenter Melissa Porter and the project will now go through to the national finals of the RICS Awards alongside the other regional regeneration winners in a ceremony held in London in November.

The announcement comes just a month after the eyes of the cycling world were on Fox Valley when the centre successfully hosted the finish of the Tour de Yorkshire which saw record crowds enjoy the annual event.

Dransfield Properties’ head office is based at Fox Valley – the company celebrates its 25th anniversary this year.

The company has won major industry awards for other developments including Penistone 1 in Penistone, Barnsley, Marshall’s Yard in Gainsborough and Sanderson Arcade in Morpeth, Northumberland.

Managing Director at Dransfield Properties, Mark Dransfield, said: “We are extremely proud of what has been achieved at Fox Valley and it is fantastic to have the development recognised by our own industry - everyone who has been involved in the project should have a great sense of pride in this achievement.

“We first started working on plans for this site ten years ago – real and sustainable regeneration can take many years to get right and it is fantastic to see the positive change Fox Valley has had in the community since the centre opened last June.”

Dransfield Properties has received an investment of £8,111,040 from the Yorkshire and Humber ERDF Programme 2007- 2013, which is managed by the Department for Communities and Local Government to bring forward the Fox Valley project.
