Lime Square - Openshaw. Work is now well underway on the first phase of this ambitious £40 million mixed-use development in Openshaw district centre in east Manchester.  The scheme will be anchored by a 79,250 sq ft Morrisons store which is due to open in November 2010.

Work is due to start early in 2011 on the next phase of the Lime Square development which will deliver a further 76,550 sq ft of additional retail space and a health and leisure club. 

The £40 million retail development is on an 11.9 acre site off Ashton Old Road and also includes:

  • Smaller shop units
  • 670 car parking spaces
  • Modern office space
  • A health and fitness centre
  • Improvements to the public realm and a piece of public art.    

These pictures were taken on site in August 2010 showing work progressing well ready for the Morrisons opening in the Autumn. Morrisons have now started fitting out the store and recruiting staff ready for opening.
