Day four of charity cycle ride and the team arrive in Denmark!

15 September 2016

Its day four of the charity bike ride fielded by south Yorkshire property firm Dransfield Properties and today the team will cross the border from Germany into Denmark.

The team of 13 riders have already clocked up more than 220 miles this week and they have two more days to go before they arrive in the Danish capital of Copenhagen tomorrow evening after a gruelling ride in 30 degrees heat from Berlin.

The team of 13 riders are taking part in the tenth leg of their annual charity ride and are aiming to cover 400 miles in five days cycling in their bid to raise £50,000 for charity.

They started the challenge on Monday September 12th in Berlin where last year’s ride finished.

The first day’s ride saw them arrive in the German town of Neuruppin after covering sixty miles and on Tuesday they covered a leg aching 100 miles from Neuruppin to Schwerin. Yesterday they cycled from Schwerin to Kellhausen and today they’ll pick up the route and cross into Denmark – arriving in Vordinborg this evening.

The annual ride was founded by brothers Mark and Paul Dransfield - their company's PDR Construction and Dransfield Properties field a team of riders every year.

The team is joined by the pro-cyclist and World Championship Silver Medallist, Tony Gibb who also heads up the new Full Gas Bike store at Fox Valley in north Sheffield - the centre is owned and managed by Dransfield Properties and was opened in June this year by Joanna Lumley OBE.

The South Yorkshire riders are also joined by team members from Lincolnshire, Hull, Merseyside and London.
The riders are supporting Action Against Cancer, Bloodwise and The Dransfield Foundation – a Trust established to help support local causes and community projects and initiatives. The team is also supporting CRY (Cardiac Risk in the Young). This year's fundraising total is currently running at £26,542.

Managing Director of Dransfield Properties, Mark Dransfield, said: “We’re looking forward to getting into Denmark today and to reaching our destination tomorrow after another tough day on the bikes. Everyone is coping well with the miles we’re covering but the high temperatures we’re having are really something we weren’t expecting this time of year.”

“We’d like to thank everyone who has sponsored us so far – it means a great deal to us and is definitely keeping us going.”
