Keen cyclist Christian Cox has given the cancer charity CLIC Sargent a welcome boost after taking part in a tough cycle challenge.

The £1,000 donation is part of a major fundraising push by a team of riders who cycled from Munich to Berlin in September 2015.

Christian, Director and owner of Windsor based West 11 Properties Ltd is part of the 16 strong fundraising team field by Yorkshire based Dransfield Properties, who between them have raised more than £50,000 in their annual Tour of Europe ride last year.

The riders, who come from across the UK, have supported Action Against Cancer and Bloodwise – but a third of the funds raised every year is also donated to other charities and groups which are nominated by the team of riders through the Dransfield Foundation.

Christian nominated CLIC Sargent, the UK’s leading cancer charity for children and young people, and their families –and recently visited Paul’s House, one of CLIC Sargent’s nine homes from homes across the UK.
Paul's House was named after Paul O’Gorman, whose family started the charity Children with Leukaemia, after both Paul and his sister died from cancer in 1987.

The 16 bedroom house is close to UCLH and Great Ormond Street and provides a home from home for hundreds of families with children who are undergoing treatment.
Christian, who has joined the Tour of Europe Ride for the last three years, said: “CLIC Sargent is a fantastic charity doing some amazing work which relies on fundraising to be able to support families at a time when they really need that support.

"This is the second year that we have been able to support CLIC Sargent and  I’m so grateful to have had the opportunity to have seen first-hand the invaluable work the charity does.
“The annual cycle ride is a really tough challenge but raising as much as we can for the charities we’re supporting definitely keeps us going.”

The annual Tour of Europe ride is organised by Barnsley based Dransfield Properties and was started in 2007.
Last year the riders set off on September 9th from Munich in Germany and took a challenging route covering more than 400 miles in just five days to finish in Berlin on September 15th. In September this year’s they’ll be covering a route from Berlin to Copenhagen.

The Tour of Europe was first started in 2007 when the team cycled from London to Paris, since then they’ve covered a leg of their journey every year with the aim of getting back to London by 2022.
