New retail development for Hull set for end of July completion

10 July 2015

Work on the new Holderness Gateway development in east Hull is nearing completion ready for an early autumn opening.

The main contractors Geo Houlton and Sons are working on the shop fronts and the paving as well as the new car park ready to hand the site over at the end of the month.

The retailers moving into the centre, which is anchored by B&M Stores, will then start fitting out their new units ready to open in September.

The development is being brought forward by the Barnsley based retail specialists Dransfield Properties Ltd and has transformed a 1.8 acre site at the junction of Holderness Road and Mount Pleasant in the city.

Holderness Gateway is anchored by a 25,000 sq. ft. B&M Store with a garden centre, there will also be a new Subway and The Hull Animal Welfare Trust is taking a unit.

Two empty shops fronting Holderness Road have also been refurbished and brought back into use as part of the overall project and the scheme is creating around 50 new jobs in the area.

Head of Communications at Dransfield Properties Amanda Holmes said: “Its great to see Holderness Gateway almost completed now and ready for our tenants to start their fit out works on their new stores.”

As well as bringing an attractive new retail development to this part of Holderness Road the scheme includes a new district centre car park with around 90 parking spaces.
