The high quality independent coffee shop brand Central Bean is the latest firm to add its name to the line-up at Fox Valley in north Sheffield.

The company, which prides itself on providing high quality drinks and food in a contemporary environment is taking the attractive landmark “umbrella building” at the centre, when it opens next year, and transforming it into a unique new coffee shop.

The building’s stunning architecture, designed by the Sheffield firm Dixon Dawson Architects, has been inspired by the paragon umbrella frame - paying tribute to the site’s rich industrial heritage.

The 2,700 sq. ft. coffee shop will be on a key location at Fox Valley, built around the landscaped fountain area alongside two new restaurants. The £42 million centre is due to open in spring 2016.

The Fox Valley scheme is being delivered by Dransfield Properties Ltd, the company has worked with Central Bean at its award winning Sanderson Arcade development in Morpeth, Northumberland.

Managing Director at Dransfield Properties, Mark Dransfield, said: “We are really focussed on delivering a high standard of architecture here at Fox Valley and the umbrella building is going to be a physical reminder of the historic paragon umbrella frame which was developed here by Samuel Fox.

"It’s positioned close to the entrance to the site and alongside the fountain and garden area so it was really important to us to find the right company, who shared our passion for the building and its design.

"Central Bean definitely fits the bill – they’re a great family business, led by a really dynamic group of people and we’re confident their style and indeed their great coffee will be well received at Fox Valley.”

Central Bean is part of the Newcastle based Vaulkhard Group, owner Ollie Vaulkhard, said he’s delighted to be part of the Fox Valley development.

Ollie added: “We have worked with Dransfield Properties in Morpeth where we have both a coffee shop and a restaurant at Sanderson Arcade; we’ve been impressed there by the company’s attention to detail with the architecture and also by how the centre is run.

“When we saw the plans for the Fox Valley development we were really keen to be involved and we can’t wait now to see our new umbrella inspired coffee shop starting to take shape over the next few months.

"Our love for great design really is second only to our love for great coffee.

"Being based in the north east this will be our most southerly business to date and we’re really looking forward to introducing the Central Bean brand to the shoppers and coffee lovers of south Yorkshire.”

Fox Valley is creating a new town centre in north Sheffield with 32 new retail units as well as high spec office space and a housing development with 114 homes. The main contractors Henry Boot Construction are currently on schedule for a spring 2016 opening.

Dransfield Properties has received an investment of £8,111,040 from the Yorkshire and Humber ERDF Programme 2007- 2013, which is managed by the Department for Communities and Local Government to bring forward the Fox Valley project.
