Fox Valley town centre development on schedule for spring 2016 opening

29 April 2015

The steel frame of the largest retail block at north Sheffield’s Fox Valley development will be completed this week and roofing work is getting started on the brand new offices on the 28 acre site.

The main contractors on the £42 million town centre project, Henry Boot, are on schedule for the centre’s spring 2016 opening and the brand new office buildings currently under construction will be ready for occupation by July this year.

The major engineering project of working on a new retaining wall is also well underway and once completed work can get started on the second retail block which will house retail and restaurant units - there will also be an attractive, landscaped fountain area.

The steelwork on this phase of the project will start in June - the centre's stunning coffee shop inspired by the iconic paragon frame umbrella will also start to take shape through the summer.

Brand new office across the road from the new retail units are currently also on schedule and they’ll be completed in July. The scaffolding has come down on the former gym building, known as Fox House and the twin buildings Maria House and Samuel House will see roofing works start next week.

Internal fit out works can then start on the offices as well as the external works to the walkways and car park.

Highway works on the project are also progressing well along with brand new paving - creating strong links from Fox Valley to Manchester Rd.

Once completed the development will deliver 32 high quality retail units with a 600 space car park.  A housing development with 114 new homes is also being developed on a neighbouring site.

Fox Valley is being brought forward by the Barnsley-based firm Dransfield Properties Ltd.

Amanda Holmes, Head of Communications, said: “It’s fantastic to see the brick work on the three new office buildings almost completed and the contractors getting ready for the roofing works to start there. We’re looking forward to the scaffolding coming down on those two buildings and to the brick work progressing on the retail units.

“We’re still working on the junction and on the paving there so we’re going to have to keep the traffic lights in place for a little longer than we’d anticipated – we would like to thank everyone for their patience while we’re working on this part of the project.”

Dransfield Properties has received an investment of £8,111,040 from the Yorkshire and Humber ERDF Programme 2007- 2013, which is managed by the Department for Communities and Local Government to bring forward the Fox Valley project.
