All change at Selby’s Market Cross as popular local cafe relocates!

20 April 2015

Shoppers at Selby’s Market Cross centre will see some changes over the next few months – with the first step being the relocation and re-launch of the busy independant local café CJ’s.

CJ’s is on the move to the former Osteria 23 unit at Market Cross with a brand new outdoor seating area as well as a fresh new look and an emphasis on locally sourced produce.

The business has been part of the Selby shopping centre since 2009 and for the last two years has been run by husband and wife team Sara and Andy.

Their new café will have seating for around 70 people, free wi-fi and will continue to provide the fantastic customer service and great teas and coffees that the business has become well known for over the last few years.

The move is part of a major remodelling programme at the shopping centre to transform the existing CJ’s unit and former Just Right Beds outlet into one large store – creating an opportunity for a new company to join the centre.

The team are now planning to use the move to re-brand and re-launch their town centre café with a contemporary new look and feel as well as a fresh new name. In its brand new, central location the café will be known as The Hub.

Sara said: “We are really looking forward to the new unit in particular having the bigger outdoor seating area which is going to look great in the summer.

“The café will be around the same size and we’re still going to have our comfortable seating which is so popular with our customers.  We work really hard to provide great customer service and that’s one thing that’s definitely not going to change.”

An announcement will be made later shortly about the company occupying the new unit being created which will cover around 2,245 sq. ft. Work has already started in the relocation of  CJ’s café to its new Market Cross home.

Management surveyor at Dransfield Properties, James Shepherd, said: “This is a major remodelling of two retail units which will bring a new company to the centre as well as relocating the existing CJ’s café.

“The café is a very popular part of Market Cross and we wish Sara and Andy all the very best in their new premises when they’ve moved across.”
