Bank sets out plans for growth at Sanderson Arcade

28 January 2015

Handelsbanken – which opened at Morpeth’s Sanderson Arcade five years ago – is going from strength to strength with expansion plans for its town centre location.

The Morpeth branch has customers across almost 2,000 square miles of Northumberland and since opening in 2010 the branch manager Dave Elliot has seen his team grow, with plans for the workforce to increase in size again later this year from a small team of four just five years ago.

The Swedish Bank has also just invested in new office improvements and created more space to cater for additional staff joining the team later in the year, when Handelsbanken will also mark the branches’ fifth birthday.

Handelsbanken is based in Austin House at Sanderson Arcade, overlooking Bridge Street. The company opened the Morpeth branch as part of its ongoing expansion plans and to be more accessible to customers across Northumberland.

The bank has more than 180 branches across the UK and prides itself on its approach to customer relations.

Mr Elliot, said: “We definitely see ourselves as a local bank and very community driven and we believe in being close to our customers. Our customers pick the phone up and speak to one of the team here in Morpeth so they are always dealing with the same people.

“We have been really well received here in Morpeth and we are proud to be part of the community here and to be part of Sanderson Arcade which is perfect location for us and for our customers.

“We have an exciting year ahead with plans to expand our team here in Morpeth to cater for our growing number of customers.”

Centre Manager at Sanderson Arcade, Medi Parry, said: “The Arcade celebrated its fifth birthday just a few months ago and it’s great to see companies that have been with us or joined the centre throughout that time continuing to grow and expand.

“We wish Dave and his team all the very best for their plans through 2015.”
