Retail scheme for Holderness Road in Hull on schedule for summer completion

15 January 2015

Work is progressing well this month on the brand new retail development on Holderness Road in east Hull.

A soil cutting ceremony was held on site in December to mark the start of work on the £5 million retail development. The scheme is on a key site in this part of the city and being brought forward by South Yorkshire based Dransfield Properties Ltd.

The piling work on the 1.8 acre site is now complete and the contractors Geo Houlton and Sons are preparing to start pouring the foundations as well as starting work on the drainage this month.

The next phase of works will see the steel frames of the brand new buildings being erected in the next few weeks along with the floor slabs.

The refurbishment work of two run down shop units is also due to get underway – this work is part of the overall scheme which will bring new life to a former rundown site on the junction of Holderness Road and Mount Pleasant.

The building work is on schedule for completion this summer. As well as bringing two former units back into use, the development will also deliver:

• A 25,000 sq.ft. B&M Store with garden centre
• A new Subway restaurant
• Three further brand new retail units, each around 1,000 sq. ft.
• A district centre car park for around 90 cars

Head of Communications at Dransfield Properties, Amanda Holmes, said: “This has been a long awaited development for this part of Holderness Road and it’s great to see work progressing and on schedule on the project. We look forward to seeing the steelwork taking shape on site over the next few weeks.”
