First phase of main construction works completed - paving way for Fox Valley development

3 December 2014

The main construction work on the first phase of the ambitious £42 million Fox Valley scheme in Stocksbridge, north Sheffield has now been completed.

Work started earlier this year on the brand new Tata Steel warehouse and a special topping out ceremony was held in June when the Secretary of State for Business, Innovation and Skills, Dr Vince Cable visited the site.

Part of the development site had previously been used to store steel which can now been relocated to the new warehouse facility, releasing the man retail and office development site for the contractors Henry Boot Construction.

The flood protection works are also due to be completed this month as are the works to the iconic steel building off Hunshelf Road, which has been refurbished as part of the project.

The main construction work will start early in the New Year on the new offices as well as the retail blocks.

Fox Valley is being brought forward by the Barnsley-based firm Dransfield Properties Ltd and will transform a 28 acre former industrial site off Manchester Road in Stocksbridge, into a vibrant mixed use development with a neighbouring residential development.

The development, due to be completed early in 2016, also includes a new next link road to the A616 Sheffield to Manchester Road where the new roundabout was completed earlier in the autumn. The overall scheme also includes new high office space as well as:

• A new 635 space car park
• Retail, restaurant and café units anchored by a 63,000 sq. ft. Tesco store
• High quality public realm area and landscaping as well as strong pedestrian links with Manchester Rd.

Amanda Holmes, Head of Communications at Dransfield Properties, said: “It’s great to see the progress that has been made over the last couple of months and we’ll start to see a real transformation in the early part of next year.”
Dransfield Properties has received an investment of £8,111,040 from the Yorkshire and Humber ERDF Programme 2007- 2013, which is managed by the Department for Communities and Local Government to bring forward the Fox Valley project.
