Work on schedule as contractors on the Fox Valley site make good progress

2 October 2014

Work is progressing well on the new £42 million Fox Valley development in north Sheffield this month as the main contractors Henry Boot Construction prepare to start on the next phase of this ambitious project.

The highway works on the A616 Stocksbridge bypass have now been completed by CR Reynolds and work is due to start on the roads around the new retail and office development over the next few weeks.

The development is being delivered by South Yorkshire firm Dransfield Properties and will transform this former industrial site, bringing a new retail and commercial heart to the area.

The first phase of works is to construct a new Tata Steel warehouse with a new road and rail link and that part of the project is nearing completion and on schedule for a December handover when the flood protection works are also due to be completed.

The steel currently being stored on the retail site can be relocated once that work is completed – releasing the whole of the site for Henry Boot to start work on the main part of the development.

Works to create a new wall and landscaping area are now underway on the former Abacus building on Manchester Road and construction work will start on the impressive new office buildings on the site early in the New Year.

As well as a new retail and office development due to be completed by Winter 2015 the scheme will also bring 110 new three and four bedroomed executive homes to this part of north Sheffield being delivered by Stonebridge Homes.

The scheme is being built on a 28 acre site with direct access off the A616 Sheffield to Manchester Road and will be anchored by a new Tesco store.

Head of Communications at Dransfield Properties Amanda Holmes said: “Things really are moving on at Fox Valley on all aspects of the site now and it’s great to see the first phase of works nearing completion and of course the roundabout now fully operational.

“We know there’s a great deal of interest in the Fox Valley scheme locally, this is a complex site and we’re working on lots of different aspects of the scheme. We’d like to thank everyone in the area for their understanding and patience while the work to deliver this regeneration project in the town is ongoing.”

Dransfield Properties has received an investment of £8,111,040 from the Yorkshire and Humber ERDF Programme 2007- 2013, which is managed by the Department for Communities and Local Government to bring forward the Fox Valley project.
